Carolina Thread Trail – Landsford Canal Trail

The main attraction of the Landsford Canal Trail within Landsford Canal State Park is the largest known stand of rocky shoal spider lilies. The Landsford Canal State Park’s Canal Trail is 1.5 miles and the .5 mile “Nature Trail” is the portion designated as Carolina Thread Trail. It is a gravel trail which goes along the Catawba River. Additional trails can be accessed from the Nature Trail. Maps along the route provide information about each of the trails. Almost the entire length of this trail is within ten feet of the water. Nearly a dozen areas provide great views of the Catawba River and its spider lilies. The best views are from the observation deck at the end of the trail.

The Landsford Canal State Park is located at 2051 Park Drive in Catawba, SC. Paid parking is available at the end of Park drive off of Landsford Road.  Landsford Road can be accessed off of US-21 S/S Anderson Road.
From US-21 S/S Anderson Road, turn left onto Landsford Road, and then turn left onto Park Drive.  The Carolina Thread Trail trailhead is located directly from the sidewalk off of the parking lot.
