SC Works hosted the 2015 Catawba Regional Job Fair held on April 30 at the concourse of the Winthrop University Coliseum. Representing the tri-county area of Chester, Lancaster and York Counties, 33 companies posted 900 + job openings on the SCWorks website prior to the job fair. This provided job seekers an opportunity to apply for the positions prior to meeting with the hiring managers in person.
Prior to the job fair there were VIP sessions held throughout the Catawba Region to provide the job seekers with information needed to present themselves as marketable candidates for the workforce. The 193 VIP attendees were able to access the job fair one hour earlier than the general public. The employers had positive comments regarding how well these candidates were prepared.
Between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm there were 580 job seekers that attended the job fair. The attendees were very pleased and one job seeker wrote on their survey “This was an excellent job fair. I truly enjoyed the experience.” Another wrote “Continue to have job fairs and continue the How To Work A Job Fair readiness sessions!”
The positive comments on the employer surveys included: well organized, great location, and look forward to participating next year.
