CDBG Projects Funded From the April 2012 Grant Cycle

The following five Community Development Block Grant applications from the Catawba Region were submitted to the SC Department of Commerce, Grants Administration on April 16, 2012. These applications were prepared by Catawba Regional Council of Governments and were approved and funded from the Community Infrastructure Program in July 2012.

 

1. Project Name: Meadowbrook Water Project

Grantee: Chester County
CDBG Funds: $427,009
Local Funds: $91,688
Beneficiaries: 107 persons, 75 of whom are low and moderate income.
Project Description: The project will consist of the construction of 6” and 8” water lines, 7 fire hydrants and valves to upgrade the water system on portions of Hart Street, Williams Street and Spring Street.

2. Project Name: Springs Cotton Mill Village East Water and Sewer Project

Grantee: Lancaster County
CDBG Funds: $500,000
Local Funds: $84,285
Beneficiaries: For sewer facilities, there will be 204 beneficiaries, 122 of whom are low and moderate income. For water facilities, there will be 71 beneficiaries, 39 of whom are low and moderate income.
Project Description: The project will consist of the construction of 1,100 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer line; 2,400 linear feet of 6-inch force main sewer line; and 3 fire hydrants. Also included will be the repavement of streets where the water and sewer line construction will be located.

3. Project Name: Buffalo Sewer Project – Phase III

Grantee: Union County
CDBG Funds: $500,000
City of Union Funds: $115,635
Beneficiaries: 195 persons, 144 of whom are low and moderate income.
Project Description: The project will consist of the construction of 3,800 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer lines to upgrade the existing lines to reduce inflow and infiltration into the sewer system.

4. Project Name: Woodlawn Water Project

Grantee: Town of Sharon
CDBG Funds: $302,500
Local Funds: $30,500
Beneficiaries: 106 persons, 82 of whom are low and moderate income persons.
Project Description: Upgrade of 6-inch asbestos cement water line on Woodlawn Street to an 8-inch line; upgrade of 2 and 4-inch inferior water lines in Woodlawn Acres to 6 and 8-inch lines; and the placement of 7 fire hydrants on these two streets.

5. Project Name: Cannon Mill Village Water and Sewer Project

Grantee: City of York
CDBG Funds: $500,000
Local Funds: $50,000
Beneficiaries: 131 beneficiaries, 72 of whom are low and moderate income.
Project Description: This project will include the construction of 4,200 linear feet of 8-inch gravity sewer line, 3,000 linear feet of 6-inch water line and 5 hydrants. Also included will be the repavement of streets where the water and sewer line construction will be located.
