Chester Sewer District awarded $2.9 million grant

On August 30, 2016, the Chester Sewer District was awarded a $2.9 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration. These grant funds will be used to construct approximately five miles of sewer lines, a pump station, and associated manholes along the Hwy 9 corridor in Chester County.  The sewer improvements will help support the creation of 300 jobs and $100 million dollars in private investment for Carolina Poly, Inc.  The improvements will also enhance the marketability of the vacant industrial property along the Hwy 9 corridor.  Catawba Regional Council of Governments assisted the Chester Sewer District with the preparation of the grant application.
