Dislocated Worker Transition Centers open in Lancaster and York Counties

The Catawba Region recently opened two Dislocated Worker Transition Centers. These centers were opened to help individuals that recently lost their jobs at several local facilities.  York County experienced significant layoffs by Resolute Forest Products and TE Connectivity.  In Lancaster County, Duraell will eliminate over 400 jobs by mid-2019.

The Rock Hill Dislocated Worker Transition Center is located at 291 Hampton Street and is expected to remain open until mid-2017 or when the majority of those affected by York County layoffs are back to work. The Lancaster Dislocated Worker Transition Center is located in the 15th Street Building, 916 15th Street, and is expected to remain open until at least mid-2019.  Both centers are open 8:30-5:00 Monday through Thursday.

Services to be provided at each center include:

  • Assistance with UI claims
  • TRA/TAA processing and case management
  • Job search assistance
  • Workshops (resume writing, completing applications, interviewing skills, basic computer skills, etc.)
  • WorkKeys assessments & WorkKeys remediation
  • WIOA services including eligibility and case management
  • Interview space for employers
