Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy

The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is a regionally driven, public-private plan that analyzes a region's economy to create a strategic roadmap for growth, job creation, and improved quality of life. It encompases a formalized planning process developed by the federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) to promote an area-wide assessment of economic trends and infrastructure needs within multi-county districts such as the Catawba Region. Economic potential in the Catawba Region is promising, due largely to its location, existing development, labor force, educational institutions, and natural and cultural resources.

The Catawba Regional CEDS website presents a digital version of the most recent update to the document.

In 1976, the Catawba Regional Council of Governments (CRCOG) was designated as an Economic Development District (EDD) by EDA. Participation in this program has enabled our region's local governments to avail themselves of regional planning assistance for economic development as well as continued access to EDA's grant programs.
