Catawba Regional Workforce Development Board Overview
The Catawba Regional Workforce Development Board of Directors was established in September 1999 and includes appointed representatives from Chester, Lancaster, and York Counties. The Board operates under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Public Law 105-220, and is responsible for overseeing the allocation and use of WIOA funds to support a comprehensive workforce development system—SC Works Centers.
The 28-member board is composed of volunteers appointed by the respective county councils. Membership includes representatives from private business and industry, education, economic development, labor, community-based organizations, and other required partners in the SC Works delivery system.
The Board’s mission is to provide policy guidance and oversight of WIOA-funded activities in the Catawba Region. It is entrusted with managing approximately $1.8 million in federal funding to support a full range of employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, youth, and local businesses seeking to enhance their workforce.
Through bi-monthly meetings, the Board works to eliminate barriers, align programs, and support a workforce system that meets the needs of both employers and job seekers, driving economic growth across the region.
