GIS & Mapping Services

Catawba Regional Council of Governments (CRCOG) utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & Mapping to produce a wide array of data, information, maps, and models utilized in sectors ranging from transportation and land use to demographics and employment.  CRCOG uses Esri ArcGIS to perform geospatial analysis, conduct data geoprocessing, develop and manage geospatial databases, create online and hard-copy maps, and develop web-based GIS Applications. Through utilizing this cutting-edge technology, CRCOG is able to better support its programs as well as local government data needs.

Catawba Region Data Comparison Tool - This application visually compares socio-economic information of different geographic areas within the Catawba Region. Areas studied include municipalities, census designated places (CDPs), the unincorporated portions of counties, and the Catawba Nation. By mapping data on Median Household Income, Unemployment Rate, Educational Attainment, and Lack of Healthcare Coverage, users can identify relationships between variables and draw conclusions from correlating or dissociating factors.

Changes in Low-to-Moderate Income Areas - This application highlights the significant changes in low- and moderate-income (LMI) areas across the Catawba Region. These areas are designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and are used to determine funding eligibility through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
