Providing Economic Development Solutions for the Catawba Region of South Carolina
Since its inception in 1970, Catawba Regional Council of Governments has been focused on creating and maintaining jobs and sustaining a competitive economic development environment within the region. A key component of this effort has been the nurturing and enhancement of existing employment centers and the creation of new employment opportunities within the region.
Through the combined efforts of the Catawba Regional Development Corporation (CRDC) and the agency’s alliance with the federal Economic Development Administration (EDA), Catawba Regional Council of Governements has loaned over $41,000,000 and secured over $20,000,000 in grant monies for the region. This effort has resulted in thousands of jobs created or preserved within Chester, Lancaster, Union, and York counties of South Carolina.
The Catawba Regional Development Corporation is a nonprofit corporation established to provide supplemental government financing for new or expanding businesses.
Its mission is to facilitate growth, expansion and diversification of the local economy by providing financial assistance to start-up and expanding businesses by offering a variety of loan programs including the SBA 504 program, the Revolving Loan Fund Program, and the Intermediary Relending Program. With these programs CRDC can provide loans ranging from $30,000 to $4 million. In addition, the Development Corporation also oversees a Brownfields Program specifically structured to provide funding for the redevelopment of properties which may be inhibited by the presence of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminates.
