Attached for your use and information is the 2014 Training Calendar for Planning and Zoning Officials for the Catawba Region. Catawba Regional Council of Governments is authorized by the SC State Advisory Committee to offer training for local planning officials and staff members pursuant to the Code of Laws of South Carolina, §6-29-1340. The mandatory training requirements must be satisfied annually by all appointed board members and planning staff.
Please share the calendar with your members of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Review Board and their respective staff as they plan their year for continuing education. The first session offered is on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 6:00 PM on “Zoning for Small-Scale Businesses.” This session is offered by the City of Rock Hill, Planning and Development Department and is available for any jurisdiction within the Catawba region. The calendar also has Orientation Training Parts 1 and 2 for newly appointed officials offered in the spring and fall at Catawba Regional Council of Governments in Rock Hill.
National Planning Month is celebrated every October to elevate the value of planning in our communities and to recognize the contribution of planning embers and members of other local boards to better our cities, towns and counties. We hope all officials within our region can obtain their training hours before October, 2014 and we can celebrate this achievement and their service during the month of October.
