When David Mai decided to purchase Speed Express which he had been operating since 2007, Catawba Regional and First Citizens Bank jointly financed the project. Speed Express has been in operation for twenty years. Located in McConnells, Speed Express is a traditional convenience store offering gasoline including diesel and kerosene, snacks, beverages, and an assortment of convenience groceries and supplies. Three jobs are expected to be created as a result of this project.
