WIA Youth Forum

The 3rd Annual Youth Forum for the Catawba area was held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at York Technical College.  This was a half day
event with a guest speaker, lunch, workshops and door prizes.  We invited all active and follow up youth in the Catawba area.

We were privileged to have former Power 98 DJ Ms. Janine Davis of Girl Talk foundation, a non-profit agency designed to empower young girls ages 11-16 to be leaders.  She talked about the five F’s to success.  Those five F’s are:  Find your passion, figure out how to get there, free yourself from drama, stay focused and have faith.

The 3 workshop topics were:   “Stress Management”, “How to Network” and “How Far Will My Money Go?”  Pizza was provided for lunch and names were drawn for door prizes donated by local business and board members.

The case managers for each youth provider recognized an outstanding student that went above and beyond the requirements of the WIA program.  Each student was presented a plaque for their exceptional accomplishments.

Overall, our 3rd annual youth forum was a great success. The students expressed how much they enjoyed the speaker and how much they learned from attending the workshops.  We are looking forward to our next forum in 2014.
