CDBG Update – Projects Funded from the April 2011 Grant Cycle

 1.      Project Name: Heath Springs Water Systems Improvement Project – Phase IV

Grantee:  Town of Heath Springs

CDBG Funds: $461,385

Local Funds:   $61,080

Beneficiaries: 944 persons, 509 of which are low and moderate income persons.

            Project Description: The project will consist of the construction of 6” and 8” water

            lines, 7 fire hydrants and valves to upgrade the water system on portions of Hart Street,

            Williams Street , and Spring Street. 

2.   Project Name:  Town of Jonesville Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Grantee:  Town of Jonesville

CDBG Funds: $500,000

Local Funds:   $50,000

Beneficiaries: 981 persons, 512 of which are low and moderate income persons.

            Project Description: The project will consist of various repairs and upgrades to the

            town’s wastewater treatment plant that will include aerators, curtain walls, liners, and

            sand bed improvements.  The access road to the plant will also be re-graded to allow for

            a new tar and gravel surface. 

3.   Project Name: Lockhart Water & Sewer Project

Grantee:  Town of Lockhart

CDBG Funds: $500,000

Local Funds:   $126,550

Beneficiaries: 195 persons, 144 of which are low and moderate income persons.

            Project Description:  The town will construct 8” gravity sewer lines to serve the

            northeastern part of the town, west of Lockhart Drive and Mill Street and North 5th Street.

            The town will also construct a 6” water line and add three fire hydrants and valves to

            upgrade the water system in the valley between North 2nd and North 3rd Streets.

4.  Project Name: City of Union Hwy 49 Apartment Sewer Improvements

Grantee:  City of Union

CDBG Funds: $243,893

Local Funds:   $66,760

Beneficiaries: 106 persons, 82 of which are low and moderate income persons.

               Project Description:  The City of Union will construct improvements to the

       sewer lines serving the Hwy 49 Street Apartments.  The existing lines are old and

       deteriorated and residents are experiencing back-ups and overflows.

5.  Project Name: Monarch Village Water & Sewer Improvements – Phase I

Grantee:  Union County

CDBG Funds: $500,000

Local Funds:   $137,305

Beneficiaries: 97 persons, 55 of which are low and moderate income persons.

               Project Description:  This project will include upgrades of old, deteriorating

          sewer and water lines in the Monarch Mill Village located just outside the

          City of Union
