Community Development

Catawba Regional Council of Governments Community Development services are an integral component to strengthening and stabilizing communities with the region.  Through the Community Development Block Grant, communities throughout the region are better positioned to stimulate economic growth and promote sustainability.

Federal and South Carolina state grant dollars, as well as public and private sector dollars, combine to implement programs that serve to improve public services, facilities, housing, and job creation.

Since 1977, Catawba Regional has managed 268 Community Development Block Grants throughout the region, totaling over $120,000,000 in grant funds.  Since 2014, Catawba Regional has managed 27 SC Rural Infrastructure Authority grants, totaling over $11,600,000 in grant funds. These projects have strengthened the recipient communities by focusing on low-moderate income areas of the region.
